Each day we see more and more things that are connected to the Internet. This week’s article takes the idea of connecting things to the Internet and pushes it further with the visions of some people and the preparations that are being made. Go to the link below and read the article. Write a reflective comment that shows you have read the article, expresses your views, and addresses my questions.

Describe a scenario that you can envision in which things in your life are connected to the Internet. How would they use the Internet? How would their use of the Internet make your life better or easier? How might things being connected to the Internet, as the article describes, be used be used to control you or monitor your activities? Which of the uses described in the article surprised you?

My facebook is connected to the Internet which means my life is in the Internet. Their use of the Internet to make my life better or easier depends on their knowledge of my life. They check facebook, myspace, and other connections that might lead to your life they can monitor. pachube.com surprised me because I have never heard anything like it.

I knew machines and appliances would be more advanced because of technology, but not all of the advancement would come from the internet. If the internet becomes part of or connected to those, that could be very dangerous because what if there's a virus that's hard to get rid of and it started with the internet? Where is it going to go? It's going to spread to everything it's connected to, which is everything you have. Also, if there is a problem with the internet connection, then life stops until it is fixed. I dont think we should rely on the internet to be part of everything we have, from our life stock to the T.V.

I would consider majority of my life to be connected to the Internet. When I had Internet, the first thing I would do every morning was jump online, same for after school. I use the Internet for basically everything; I get on MySpace, Facebook, MSN, and Yahoo instant messenger to talk with my friends. Then I spend the rest of my time for school use, looking up information. The Internet makes my life easier because I’m not too fond of libraries and I don’t like to use it for information.

I can imagine my car connected to the internet. If I had internet in the car, I could surf the web during a long road trip. If I could have my burglary alarm and smoke detector connected to the internet, I could get quick alerts to my phone easily. In the future, when I have kids, I will install chips under their skin at birth so I could monitor their activities for their entire life. I was surprised to hear that microwaves might one day be connected to the internet. I'm not sure why we would need that though.

Stuff connected to the internet is a strange idea. Using internet for your T.V or radio when we have a connection that we don't need to plug into is not a smart idea. On the other hand it could be useful to upload tapes with since it is near impossible to upload a tape on to your computer without the special equipment required. People know that the internet is a wonderful thing with many hidden talents that we haven't discovered yet but come on people. Don't geet carried away

A cool way of being connected to the internet would be to have all the food you eat connected. Then you could monitor your diet more easily. You could just check an online database to keep updated on your diet and nutrition. Then you could have a monitor for your physical exercise and you could get a complete report on your overall health. One thing from the article that I'm surprised by is putting devices in cows. I thought that you put those devices in objects, not living things. Putting them inside cows seems a little inhumane.

I can envision my radio being connected for receiving online news and global radio networks to the Internet or my hot teapot sending me an email about the water boiling. The use Internet in simple things can make my life easier in that the Internet in these simple objects develops contact between them and me. I could be sick and contact my teapot through my iPhone or my microwave through my digital planner. I could install chips under my sister’s skin to monitor her activities. The chips could contact me through the Internet. I thought about the idea of putting devices like chips under cow’s skin, and I think it’s not a good idea. I was surprised by this idea.

My MSN messenger is connected to the internet. That means that I am the one who is now connected with my friends through the internet. That Shows that I am somehow connected to the internet. Plus, my facebook account is connected to the internet, with a lot of my personal information on it like pictures, friends, etc. That also gets me somehow connected to the internet. They can only monitor the information that I publish on those websites, that means that I could still control, what they can monitor. However I was surprised by pachube.com.

I think that the internet is a very lage part of my life. I use the internet for more than just one thing. I use the internet for school, to communicate, and sometimes learn about tnew things. The internet makes life much easier. I can research for everything i need to know about, any information that i need would be on the internet. It would not surprise me if all objects were connected to the internet because it is possible and i think that it might happen in the near future.

It really is a surprise to know that physical thing can be connected to internet. I can just imagine my desk connected to internet. Also having a internet connection on your smoke detector, and alarm. You would know right away if something is wrong in your home. However the person who invented www didn't expected any viruses would be made. Same with this new physical internet thing, what if one of your physical internet gets virus? For example it would be really pain if there was a false smoke alarm.

The idea of my clothes and everything around me being connected to the Internet is a bit staggering for me. I am not sure how it would be possible to give a t-shirt an IP adress and what the point of doing so would be. My life on its own is alread y on the Internet, but not even all of that. I choose what I want to put online and that is all that does go online. If my clothes, my television, my bed, my food, and everything else in my house were to be connected to the Internet I believe that I would feel very vulnerable. It would be impossible to do anything without being watched. I guess it would improve security because a shirt could be thracked or a car, but that would also invade appon the everyday civilians' privacy. If food were to have an IP adress, it would need some form of technology to be imbedded in it. They idea of eating microchips for breakfast is not too appitizing.
