Solar Panel Theft

The use of solar panels has become popular around the world. For some people, it is too popular. This week’s article is about the theft of solar panels, why it is happening, and what people are doing about this problem. Go to the link below and read the article. Write a reflective comment that shows you have read the article, expresses your views, and addresses my questions.

Why would people want to steal solar panels? What would be a good way to prevent the panels from being stolen? If you were the judge in a trial about solar panel theft, what punishment would you give to the guilty criminal? If you caught someone trying to steal solar panels from you, what would you do about it? What is the next thing that we should be concerned about thieves stealing?

Stealing solar panels are like any other stealing, why people do it? Because they don’t have the money to buy one for their self. A good way to prevent yours from being stolen is to have a really good security system for your house. If I were a judge I’d give the thief a couple years in jail, and community service. I would call the cops to get the criminal and make sure they wouldn’t be in the neighborhood again. I mean if it were you or even me I wouldn’t want anybody to steal my solar panel for my house that my family bought. Why couldn’t they just suck it up and make some money so they can buy their own instead of stealing. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. We should be concerned about everything we have, because anything can be stolen. For example you may have a fence and think your tool shed or dogs can be safe but they can be stolen! So we should be concerned about every little thing we all have

Stealing solar panels Is like sealing any thing else so if i was a judge i would give him the same as if he would of stolen a TV. you could put it on a roof or put a fence around it or dogs to guard it. Solar panels are expensive so you would not want to loose one.

Everyone knows that gas is running out. Soon cars will stop working, airplanes won't fly. Everyone knows soon we will have to turn to the sun. The world's fuel should finish in around twenty years so knowing that people are preparing. Solar panel theft is a great idea since you have the ability to store the sun's energy and use it as your own. There are some disadvantages though, apart from the police searching for you a solar panel lives for around twenty years so by the time you need it the most you won't have them.

As the demand and popularity of solar panels increases, I could see exactly why thieves would want to steal such a valuable item that they could get so much money for. A house or building that would likely be stolen from would need a good alarm system or a well-protected roof-top area so that it would be harder for the thief to access. If I caught a criminal attempting to steal my solar panels, I would of course be very angry at that person because the solar panels would cost so much to replace. I would demand money from that thief rather than jail time because I think fining them would discourage them from ever stealing again. Also, if they damaged any panels in the attempted robbery, I would make them pay the replacement cost. If thieves are successfully stealing cumbersome objects like solar panels, I would expect that they would be able to steal something like a water heater or furnace. At least people are excited about renewable energy...

People would want to steal solar panels so they can resell them to make more money. A good way to prevent panels from beeing stolen is to set up an electric chain link fence around the perimeter where the panels are. If I was a judge in a trial about solar panel theft my punishment would be give the theif a fine twice what the panels are worth and eight months in a reformatory. If I caught someone trying to steal my panels I would apply any force that I need to, to keep my property. The next thing that we should be concerned about theives stealing are anything they can get their hands on that is worth anything.

I think that stealing solar panels is like any other crime, however the thieves do it because they need it to get hot water. however they still do I think that to prevent people from stealing other's solar panels is to get the solar panels chained to the wall, plus get a security system that would ring loudley if the chains get cut away from the solar panels.

I don't really understand why they would steal solar panel. It is not easy to sell one of those. Not only that if you manage to steal one of those you need other stuff to use that. It's not like you just put solar panel on the roof and it will work. Other stuff that turns into electricity and hot water is quiet expensive too. So unless you have that it is really useless to steal solar panel.

People are now stealing solar panels because as McCalmont said, "This is the crime of the future". We are at a time when the usage of renewable energy sources are so wanted by a lot of people, some would break the law to have some. Good ways of protecting the solar panels would be installing alarms, video cameras, or installing the panels onto the ground so they can't be moved. If I were a judge and had to deal with a solar panel case I would sentence the felon to 5 years in prison. If someone was trying to take one of my solar panels I would do the same thing as Glenda Hoffman, "shot them". The next thing on the thief list are hybrid cars. And like solar panels, it would first effect California.

Stealing a solar panel would be like stealing anything else. I think that people steal them because they dont have the money to pay for their own so they steal them then they can save money on water. So they won't have to turnon the hot water all the time.

Solar panel theft is surprising but it was also something that I would have expected to come. The idea of using the solar panels to obtain your energy is creative idea because of its renewable energy source. To prevent such a cause people should maybe have one door to access to the roof and should always be locked and only certain personnel should have the right of having the key to open the door. Maybe the could pay a company to provide them with guards to protect their solar panels.

Stealing solar panels would be a smart idea. People would steal solar panels mainly for money. A good way for preventing solar panels from being stolen is developing a security system that works for solar panels. Or the owner can have a security camera monitoring the solar panels. If I were a judge convicting a solar panel theft, I would sentence him to 3 years of prison. If I saw a person stealing solar panels I would instantly call the police. My concern is that people will start stealing hybrid cars.

People would want to steal solar panels because they are desperate for one or are just doing it for fun. A good way to prevent the panels from being stolen is to have a good security system in your house. I wouldn't give the guilty people serious punishments. I would just warn them not to do it again then call the police.

If I lived somewhere that there was a lot of sun and a lot of solar pannels and I was going to steal something, I would most deffinitely steal a couple of solar panels. The electricity bills would drop drasticly if not dissappear alltogether and I would have a great source of power for my house. I do not think it would be smart to sell them on eBay because it would be easy for the police to catch you. I do think that what the police is doing by checking these onliine sales, is a very good idea. This way they can catch as many theives as possible.
