Wooksoon ///// I think Capital Times has been doing a good job. Although they have tradition for k publishing newspaper, they should follow the nowdays' trend. Today, we usually use internet news rather than newspaper. Also, there are some good points in using internet news. Internet news are fast, so many people can get new information in a short time. Some people will not agree with Capital Times's situation, actually they are following nowadays current.
I think that Capital Times made a good move by switching to the online paper. I think that the weekly newspaper is also a good decision because it might attract people to go online and subscribe. I think that many more newspaper will be joining the online club although the major newspaper such as "USA Today" will not change online papers.
This topic of issue does not concern me but does concern those that are getting the newspaper. To stop getting newspapers might have a good or bad affect. The good is that you won’t have to go outside to get your newspaper. The bad is that the people who don’t have internet won’t be able to read it; unless I misunderstood something that said they would give out newspapers to those who don’t have internet.
It is good that Capital Times is becoming more technology based, however, it might have been a much wiser idea to stick with the newspaper, and perhaps have a website that gives daily updates.
Many people have lost their job due to this decision of choosing to do their full newspaper on the internet, and for example, if the whole United States chooses to do this with all their newspaper companies, they could very well go into another Great Depression with a multitude of people losing their jobs in newspaper companies.
However, this might be a good thing because then the whole Wisconsin area will be kept up to date on recent events and things going on in the world.
In my opinion, I don’t like the idea of putting news on the web rather than having it printed out. Something that really shocked me when I was reading this article was that The Capital Times, a famous newspaper, which had almost been around since World War I, is publishing the daily report on the web rather than printing it out. I don’t like this idea because everything nowadays is on the web from learning to games and fun. What happened to sitting outside on your porch on a warm Friday morning and reading your favorite newspaper? So now it’s sitting in a room looking straight up at the computer (which people say is very harmful to your health) and reading a newspaper. Going back to the article, Clayton Frink said, "We felt our audience was shrinking so that we were not relevant.” Why would he think that? I get that it’s easier for people to just go on the computer other than going to the shop, buying it, and reading it when you get home, but it’s still not making me want to change my mind about this daily report on the web. He also said, “We are going a little farther, a little faster, but the general trend is happening everywhere.” Although, Clayton is right, newspapers are called newspapers for a reason. They aren’t called newsweb or something like that.
I think Capital Times has been doing a good job with the news papers. I think its better to have news papers on the Internet than going to buy it from a local store.
I think that Capital Times made an amazing move by switching to the online paper. I think that all the newspapers should switch to online because most of the people would rather get their newspaper straight from their house
In my opinion, Capital Times did amazing job at advanced traditional newspaper to online newspaper. It's very useful that we can search from the internet. The Internet newspaper has many affects on the issue. From the internet, we can find many news. I'm confused because it has many news. I wonder all the news are correct.
In my opinion publishing newspapers on the net can be a good thing and a bad thing at the same time, it has ups and downs. One of the advantages of this new technology is that we won’t have to use paper, which in this period of time is a major problem because we are using too much paper that is made of trees etc... On the other hand theres a big problem about the fact that they will publish the news on the web, nowadays not so wealthy people like to read the newspapers before when it was for 2 cents or maybe for free they were able to get the newspapers and read them because of they have decided now, the not so wealthy people can’t afford to buy a computer just to read the paper that they use to.
I think the idea for an online newspaper is a pretty good idea and it might even be more productive but some people in some places have either 1- don't have a good enough Internet connection or 2-might not even be able to afford the Internet so in the future I think this idea might be able to work, but I think for now we should just keep the idea of printing it on paper
