Dating Sites Compete for Users

Online dating sites have been around for some time. Our article this week looks at how they have fared over time and influences that have affected them. Go to the link below and read the article. Write a reflective comment that addresses my questions and expresses your opinion about the topic.

How do you feel about the idea of online dating? Is an online dating service something that you would consider trying when you are an adult? What concerns should people have about this sort of service? What do you think of Match.com’s tactic to get women to participate? Do you think that social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace are taking business away from Internet dating sites?

What i feel about online dating is not a really good idea because i think it is very dangerous because you don't really know who the person is and maybe someone dangerous. Especially for young teens like 13-17
No, i don't think it's a good idea because maybe when he is dating you and marry he might try and abuse you this is why i don't think its a good idea to do it to an adult. I think its a good idea to date someone you know.
The conerns people should have about this sort of service is that it maybe dangerous to talk to someone you don't know. Because even criminals go on the internet too and may try to contact you through dating services which i think is really dangerous.
I think Match.com's tatic to get women to participate is puting pictures of handsome mens thinking the women may like it and try it out. This is the main reason why women participate in such dating service like Match.com.
No, i don't think Facebook and My space are taking business away from the internet dating service because these dating service are advertisements that facebook and Myspace are paying for. This is why i think dating service is such a good idea.

Some people don’t like the idea of online dating, but I think that this idea is pretty much okay for me. In online dating, you could meet new people from all over the world and date them. If you date someone, it doesn’t mean you’re going to marry that person, so I think that it’s a good idea. Although I said that it’s a good idea, I wouldn’t use an online dating service when I become an adult. Online dating services have advantages and disadvantages. Advantages are to meet new people and date them for a while, which could lead to marriage if this couple falls deeply in love. The disadvantage would be if the online dating service was used for everyone, as in people who aren’t safe. For example, a woman could log into this online dating service and meet this man. This man could actually fake his identity and when they date, that man could kill her or rape her. The concerns that people should have about this service are about how safe the people are and about actually going out with people you don’t know.

Match.com’s tactic to get women to participate is a good idea. If it doesn’t cause any harm and problems, then I would say to go for it! I believe that the social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace are taking business away from Internet dating sites. The first reason I believe that is because people want to meet new people all around the world. If you’re on Match.com, maybe you can’t do that often. Also, Facebook and MySpace is place to meet people and have friends. You can add friends on Facebook and maybe see each other in real life. When you do, it’s like online dating.

When it comes to me I don’t think that online dating is the best way to get your perfect soul mate. I think it’s only for people who have no life and for people who their opposite sex aren’t attracted to them. I believe that these sites are a waste of time and do you no good if you are a normal person. I don’t think I will waste my time waiting for someone to look at my picture and read my information like I said it’s for people who have no life and try to get their soul mate of the internet. As a father I wouldn’t like my daughter to post up pictures of herself and write information about her. Because I think it’s kind of weird knowing that my daughter is trying to find a soul mate of off the internet. That’s why I think that people should have concerns about these websites because they might harm someone’s future only by posting up pictures and information of himself/herself. I believe that these websites get the women to join, is by paying them or getting them from refuge camps. That’s why you shouldn’t trust those websites. Yes I believe that Facebook and Myspace are taking business away from Internet dating sites because there are more people who have a Facebook/Myspace account than people who are trying to find their soul mate off the internet knowing that they can’t get anyone in by meeting them face to face.

I believe that the idea of online dating is a good idea, but I feel those techniques are for shy people, who don't really want to try to make an effort to meet love of their life. When I grow up, I wouldn’t really want to try online dating because I can just go out and ask a girl out, as I said it’s for shy people. The concerns that people should have about these types of websites is whether the person that you are going to meet is what he claims to be. I think that Match.com’s tactic is a very good strategy ,because with that many women available, it is more options for the male subscriber .I don’t believe that social networking is taking business away from the date sites because they are different types of sites, one is for love ,the other is for socializing.

If you date someone on the internet, you don’t know who they are until you meet them, I mean any guy can be talking to you and can give you false information and sometimes that leads into deaths or someone being hurt.

I don't think online dating is really good. On the news you hear about all of this horrible stuff that happens to people that go on online dating sites and then they wind up killed. You don't know the person and can't trust them even if they do seem "really, really nice". WHen I'm older also, I highly doubt that I'm going to be doing online dating, it just seems a bit creepy and not all that interesting, considering the facts that the person on the other end of the screen has a high chance of just lying.
Some of the concerns people should have about sites like these is not being safe, that everyone could be lying about one thing or another. And you truly don't know that person. They could be someone really dangerous and you wouldn't even know until it's too late.
Match.com's tactic seems kind of unfair. If someone doesn't want to try out there website, they shouldn't try to buy them over by saying that it's for free. Also, Facebook and Myspace are taking away businuess for sites like Match.com because Facebook and Myspace are free and most of these internet dating sites are not.

Wooksoon///I think it is okay. Because, the users who use an online dating site, wanted to meet people. On internet it's easy to meet people at any time they want. I won't try to do these sorts of online dating sites. Because, when I use it, the chatting partner can deceive me. For example, my partner is a man. But he is a gay..... So, the man can deceive me. I think people have to concern about the truth. Because, it is not a real life. So, we cannot determine that the chatting partner is a good woman or a bad woman, or she is beautiful or not. I think many people who use this site have to consider if they are lying, or telling the truth. The tactic of Match.com is unfair. It is discrimination between men and women. Why only women don't need to pay about access to the site? Although, there are too many men, they have to get money from women who joined the site. I think the social networking sites can take business away from internet dating sites. Because, they can leave comments, and they can date.

Online dating is good only if you are to busy at work and have no time to go out or if you are to lazy to get up off your but and walk or drive somewhere to talk to a woman of whom you like. Well, i don't really need to consider it because i have my one true love and her name is Jamie. She is 22 and lives in Virginia. People might be fooling you about their identity. I think it is a good way but i wouldn't make it totally free. I think sites like Myspace and Facebook are taking business.

I think online dating can be a little dangerous at times. It's true you don't know who you are going to meet online it could be a serial killer or a rapist so when you visit online dating programs he should be very careful.

But also you have to remember online dating was created by computer nerds so it can't be that dangerous. And many people meet someone that they later on Mary on the online dating so I think it's like a yellow light you can go but you have to proceed with caution.
