We complain about how slow the Internet is at school. Sometimes Web pages are slow to open. Streaming audio and video are usually not worth bothering to try. We all look forward to the day when things will be better, but will they? This week’s article paints a dark picture. Go to the link below and read the article. Write a reflective comment that addresses my questions and expresses your opinion about the topic.
Were you surprised by the fact about YouTube? How much do you think their consumption will be this year? How do you think the Internet traffic surge will affect your personal use in the next few years? If you agree with the article’s suggestion that the traffic congestion problem is local, what should be done here in Jordan to provide a solution? If the problem does get worse, what will you do to continue using the Web applications that you presently use?
Internet Traffic Jam Article

When I was reading this fascinating article, I was really surprised by the fact about YouTube. If they consumed as much bandwidth as the entire Internet did in 2000 last year, then this year it will have to be twice as much! Because of the Internet traffic these days, I think that the traffic surge will affect my personal use a lot in the few years. One reason why the Internet could affect my personal use in the next few years is because they said that the Internet could out space network capacity by 2011. If the Internet does out space, then it affects everyone’s personal use, not only mine.
The article’s suggestion is that the traffic congestion problem is local. If this is true, then we should provide a solution here in Amman, Jordan. A solution could be that YouTube and these downloading websites could be blocked for everyone. Actually, if the Internet problem does become worse, I wouldn’t do anything about the Web applications that I am presently using because one person won’t change the problems of the Internet. If more people do start doing something about it, then I will, too, but one person won’t change the whole Internet problem.
I wasn’t surprised that YouTube took up that much bandwidth, because everyone uses it, mostly children in school. This year it will be the same or higher bandwidth because every day someone gets access to the Internet or someone might become poor and have to stop connecting. My personal use will be of no ones concern. I don’t think it is local because of all the advertisements and pop-ups that companies use to improve their economy. If the problem does get worse then we are all going to have to go back to when we used books, magazines, newspapers and etc.
I was very surprised by the amount of bandwidth that Youtube used when it said how much it took up. If it took up as much as the Internet did in 2000, than it will probably triple this year. The Internet traffic, if it's as bad as people say, will not only affect mine, but possible the whole worlds'! But it said that it would take longer to download things and that everything would be moving extremely slowly and that would drive me to the brink of insanity! If the congestion is only local, then banning certain sites would be an easy solution, like Diana said. However, if the Web only gets worse, than I really don't know what I am going to do to continue using the sites and applications that I use.
I was really surprised that YouTube took more bandwidth than the year 2000. I believe their consumption would be double of the year 2000. I believe that the surge will slow down my Internet, but there is more than one source of Internet. I belief that Jordan doesn’t have a sufficient funds for the solution. If it gets worse, the only way to use web application I use today is to get faster internet or use satellite internet.
Yes, in fact I was really surprised about the fact about You Tube! I think the consumption will be a little bit more, because of how many people are now using the Internet these days than few years ago. I think that the traffic surge will affect my personal use in the next few years just a little. I think they should make more space for the Internet so that the Internet will be a little bit faster than before. I think I will still use the Internet because the Internet is really important. The computer really changed the world!
When I read this article I was really shocked and surprised by the fact that YouTube takes that much bandwidth. If it was taking that much bandwidth in the year 2000, I bet that the amount that they will be taking in the upcoming years would double or maybe triple. I think in the following years the internet serge will not only affect my personal use of the internet, but everyone in the worlds; because almost everyone in the world will have to or need to use the internet somehow. According to the technology we have in Jordan, I don’t think we can do anything; we would have to live with it for the rest of our life until someone thinks of something and helps the internet. If the problem does get worse I don’t think I would be able to do anything knowing that someone would try thinking of something other than me.
Wooksoon Jung///I was surprised by the article. I think their consumption will be a lot. Because to take in lots of problem, they should spend lots money and time. The problem will affect to us such as hard to connect to internet. I don't think there is a solution. Because, even if there is internet traffic, all people need to use internet. Although, it is getting worse, I will use internet. Internet is very important part of our human life.
I was really shocked when I found out that Youtube was using that much bandwidth. I think that it will be possible that it will double, and I think that it will slow down my Internet. Living in Jordan I know that our government doesn’t have sufficient funds to fix this problem.
hello
I was not surprised by the fact that YouTube took much bandwidth.
Because all over the world people can search for the video if they
needed they can visit the site with bo retriction.
Use of the Internet increase every year. For that reason their consumption would be higher than the year of 2000.
It would affect me very much. About Internet traffic, although I'm not only person who will affect the traffic jam,
it will drive me crazy because I'm used to convenience Internet system.
I think they should improve the technology and minimize the size of the data. I'm going to use
the Internet but less . It will be difficult for me to throw up all the Internet.
Internet is part of my relationship.
Yes, I was really surprised on the fact about YouTube. I think their consumption this year will be maybe the same. I think the Internet Traffic surge will affect my personal use in the next few years will be a lot. If the traffic congestion problem is local they should try to fix it right away. I don’t really think I can do anything about it.

Although youtube is a very popular site and did consume a lot of bandwidth as much bandwidth as was taken in 2000. But all fads come to an end it's not like everyone is going to keep on going to youtube for ever. Although there is a chance that everyone will continue visiting youtube but even if that does happen a government or some more nerds will come up with a new source for the incident or just a stronger one. Just because they say now that in 2011 we'll basically have no internet doesn't mean it's really going to happen, NASA said that by 2000 we would've colonized mars and here we are in 2008.
